Robert "Bob" Wayne Jackman, age 80, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017.
Bob was born on Feb. 25, 1937 in Springfield, Vermont, the second son of Laurence P. Jackman and Roberta E. (Hartley) Jackman. After graduating high school in 1955, Bob served three years in the US Army Signal Corps. In 1960, he began working with Illinois Bell Telephone in Peoria while attending night classes at Bradley University and Illinois College. He was married to the love of his life, Arlene Francis Thierry Jackman on April 22, 1962.
While working he served as President of Illinois Bell's Engineering Club and as a Utility Representative on Springfield's Chamber of Commerce. Also, he served many years as a Director of Springfield Bell Credit Union and as a Deacon in the Rochester Christian Church.
Bob retired in 1990 as Area Manager for Ameritech (Illinois Bell Telephone) and immediately moved to his vacation home in Punta Gorda, FL. In 2006, he moved to Clarksville, Tennessee. In retirement, Bob became a volunteer Board Member of AT&T's South Chapter Telephone Pioneers of America and as a Life Representative for Florida. Also, he served on the Advisory Board of the Fort Campbell Federal Credit Union. His fraternal interests include life memberships in the Masonic Blue and Scottish Rite Lodges as well as a member of Ansar Shrine of Springfield, IL, B.P.O.E. Elks of Port Charlotte, FL and served as Administrator for the Clarksville, TN Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1027. His hobbies included collecting antiques, carving small animals, and golfing.
His wife, parents, younger sister Nancy Jean Jackman and his older brother, William Paul Jackman, preceded him in death. He is survived by his two sons, Jean Francis (Tami) Jackman and Jeffrey Wayne (Regina) Jackman, twin grandchildren, Katrina Marie and John Wayne Jackman, his younger brother, Cedric Paul (Rita) Jackman, sister-in-laws, Charlene Swanson and Theresa Jackman, and several nieces and nephews.
